Cheers, Eldon. I was going to ask. We have friends over Shadwell way and usually go via Aberford and Barwick in Elmet - can't be arsed with Crossgates and the ring road. I can feel a pie hunt coming on!:):yum

Decent farm shop, well stocked do bumper packs I.e. bbq etc.
Coming your way from Aberford it's on right after golf course.

I've no connection just satisfied customer.

I didn’t realise there would be so interest in pie action. This lovely was scoffed at the Piebald Inn, Hunmanby, East Yorkshire (see what they did with the name of the pub!). They have a pie menu of around 20 different sorts. When I was there a bloke had a heart attack eating one - I’m not kidding.

He was a typical northerner. When the ambulance arrived and they wanted to cart him off he said ‘I’m not going to any bloody hospital’. He did leave though without paying his bill.

Used to love this place when I lived in Reading. Probably long since closed now.

Didn't really come across pork pies in Dundee when I was a lad (except British Rail ones at the station). Bridies and Scotch pies were staple (I now want a Scotch pie for lunch).

My girl friend and I moved to Nottingham in 1973, and we took a Melton Mowbray finest pork pie to my mum on a visit home. Mum served it up for dinner, having cooked it in the oven! Ruined! It never occurred to me that mum hadn't seen a pork pie before and didn't know it was served cold.

    Umm yum scotch pie!
It's a bit like a steak pie but with meat in it.

A cracking little bakery shop in Newton Stewart used to sell em, not sure whether it's still there as been 10 years or so ago.

Not sure about Newton Stewart, but there are a couple of places in Castle Douglas sell great Scotch pies. Up there on holiday last week (don't ask!), and managed to sneak 2 past the vegan police.

In my driving days we had a regular delivery of wheat up to Hutchisons flour mill in Kirkaldy. There was a pie shop/bakery just up the road past the docks from there which we would nearly always visit to stock up on pies etc whilst waiting to unload. Can't beat a good, healthy, balanced diet (one bag of pies in one hand and one bag of cakes in t'other is balanced enough for any truck driver!).:yum:yum
