The 2016 upwards ECU's are nothing like the pre-2016 and lock out as soon as you try and alter anything.

They are feeding you bullshit................But hey, it's your money.

I completely agree each to their own . Trustpilot have 2 reviews from Thruxton R owners both delighted with the result. I know mine has improved.

Lets just say they can alter something in the mapping (which they can't)
For more or less the same money (£350) you get a Power Commander V which lets you alter fuelling and ignition timing everywhere in the rpm range and at ten throttle positions. This can all be done separately for each of the two cylinders so you can optimise fuelling and ignition timing on each individual cylinder.
You can download and upload maps directly into the PC that have been built for different exhaust and intake set up's, fuelling changes A LOT when you change these components.
None of these things can be altered in any meaningful way without the bike being on a dyno with wide-band O2 sensors to track the A/F ratio, it is actually dangerous to do any of these alterations to the mapping without seeing what's going on in real time.
Ask any Triumph dealer whether the new generation of ECU's can be hacked into and the answer is NO, they lock down and have to be reset by Triumph at a cost of around £250. just the idea of optimising ECU mapping for an individual bike by removing the ECU and sending it through the post is ridiculous.

as you said it's my money and this isn't a wee wee competition. Fact : I have sent 2 ECUs to Hilltop by post and have had great results both times. I don't need to faf about with different settings. Fact : The world was once thought to be flat and one could fall off the edge. Everyone has their own beliefs. There is theory and practice. I know my bikes performance has improved after all I'm the one riding it.

I've never used Hilltop M/Cs but I've certainly heard of them! I also dont know how they do what they do, but it certainly seems to work and please an awful lot of owners! If they were trying to pull the wool over peoples eyes i think they 'd have been found out by now. https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/hilltopmotorcycles.co.uk

The thing with this thread is that no one is wrong, Hilltop can obviously alter the locked ECU and make the bike feel better.id imagine they’re adding fuel to make it richer and smoother
Midas is also right you can only set an engine correctly on a dyno and the PCV is a great bit of kit
So whatever way you want to go I hope it works out perfectly for you

Easy way to put this to bed is this.
Dyno the bike, send your ECU off to Hilltop and then dyno the bike when you get the ECU back, that simple. (Independent dyno, not Hilltop's)
Make sure both dyno runs show the A/F ratio and are done on the same dyno using the same correction factor.

    This is from their website

"Our software is INVISIBLE and cannot be seen by your dealer or anyone else."

    The invisible map.........Well that's fukin handy isn't it ;)
