Thanks, maybe I’ll get the chance to ride a Tuono one day. I don’t know what a Norton Dominator is, but I’ll google it . Yeah I’m very happy with premium quality of the bike, compared to my brothers bikes (mt 09 & gsxs 1000) the Speed has a much more premium look and feel. Mind you, the premium build does come at a (premium). I know what you mean by the solid feel. To me most bikes feel like a collection of parts put together, where the Speed feels like it was made from one solid piece.

Attended bike wise durham a few years ago Norton had a small stand with all those bikes there...... I literally jizzed me knicks when I looked at them in the flesh , instant thought was.....would they swap or take my missus in part ex!

I almost bought one of those. Darker color with some carbon. Look was astounding, ride comfort, meh at best.

 

Yeah, doesn’t look overly comfy, but dam sexy.

 

I'd say 'on the bike' for sure. I am 5' 10"; that is my preferred feeling. I have a '17 BMW R1200R. The standard seat made me feel "inside" the bike. I purchased BMW's available "sport" seat that placed me about 1 1/2" higher. I definitely (now) feel more in control.

 

I'm 6'4" and have had my speed triple for 6 months.
It depends what you want from a bike; l have done a 600 mile trip and found it fairly comfortable.
You definitely ride on the bike, not in it. Great fun to ride, superb handling and I find it has ample power.
Downsides for me are that it is not great for long motorway runs and limited luggage capacity, but then it is a basic no frills machine albeit a very good one.

Seating position for me with 6' "on the bike", too...

You are leaning forward a bit with quite a sharp knee angle (less than on super sport bikes, so not to uncomfortable), not as upright as on a Yamaha MT 10 SP but less weight on the wrists than on an Aprilia Tuono for comparison.

You get a super feeling for the front suspension which gives a lot of confidence on speedy rides, braking into the curves and so on. I think the riding geometry is nearly perfect. The Speedy is a top mature product with continuous improvements including slight changes of geometry (head angle for instance) - and the latest electronic updates. So one can be sure that there is some solid experience of Triumph put into this bike over the last years.

But you have to try yourself and get some test rides, finding out if it suits your applications. Of course I had to get used to this class of bikes, coming from more touring oriented motorcycles.

So, much for the Speedy S/RS from my side!
