I had a steel ramp but it was a bit short and made it very steep so embellished it a bit with the left over plywood. Was a bit sketchy but got her up unscathed! :)

Update: Another good day in the man shed yesterday (albeit a scary one) as I managed to get the wiring loom free and pull the engine ....

I'm pretty sure its going to be a lot harder getting it back together!! :)

    Hey biglad,

Yes the engine is not bad at all and the bike in general is in very good order. Paint is flaking off by the manifolds and there must have been a bad gasket at some point as the lower section is very gunky but I will get that all sorted.

Question: has anyone every used an engine stand for working on an engine - I am thinking this could be really usefull but not sure if it would work ...

    Any advice??

Hi CF, having seen engine stands being used on these "doing up an old dog" type programs they look really great - just can't quite imagine how you would attach the bike engine to that stand ????

Must have sold out as I cant find it anywhere but the bike on the cover look ACE!! :)

As for the stand - The four arms are completely adjustable and imagine I would line them up with the three mount points on one side of the engine. Not sure if that is a good idea though - it's quite a heavy lump!

Ill see if i can get hold of Sealy and ask directly.

Quick update - some family commitments this weekend so not much time to spend on the bike but i did get the engine mounted in the stand and is now ready for a good clean and service ...

Rotate functionality works well (apart from the bit where all the remaining engine oil ran out!!)

    Live and learn :)

Wonder if you can help me out, did your Daytona come with a water pipe cover over the water pump hoses ? if so could you send me a photo or 2 of how the brackets locate that hold the cover as j want to fit one to mine. i know there is a threaded fixing off the water hose do not know how the lower fixing bolt locates

    Thank Paul

    Hi Paul,

    here you go ...

The shield mounts at the two points i am pointing to:

    IMG_3980.JPG

the top mount point is actually part of the feeder pipe and the bottom point uses a bracket

    IMG_3981.JPG

Here is how the mount locates:

    IMG_3982.JPG

You may need to get the daytona pipe to supply the top mount.

    Cheers
    Jonathan
