hmm, could be rectifier or stator, but then there would still be a clicking as the solenoid tries to fire the engine...
a multimeter would show the voltage in the battery...needs to be near 13v to start

my bet is still on a solenoid

    no probs Keith
us guys like to throw out ideas so we can brag about getting it right later when you get it sorted.

Solenoid - converts the start switch current into a larger current flow to the starter motor
Stator - circular magnets on the crank that charge the battery
Rectifier - controls the current from the stator to the battery depending on the battery charge and drain

Best of luck getting this sorted Keith, keep us posted.
I hope it is something right cheap and easy like a sticky clutch or side stand switch

Could very well be the battery hasn't fully charged. That's the first thing the dealer will look at for you.

Fingers crossed it's a simple solution.

Do us a favour Keith, if RT is right about the fault don't tell him the truth, make something up or we will never hear the end of it!:joy:

So a quick update recovery turned up jump started straight away no issues but when he done his test on the battery while the bike was running no charge was getting to the battery his recommendation was the rectifier????

    could be...
Rectifier or the stator is blown - either way it is an expensive piece of kit

this could be a fault which develops gradually, if the battery was fully charged when you got it a couple of months ago, this could hide the fault until the charge depleted from the battery.
You get a new battery (which is not fully charged) and this has enough juice to see you through 40m of riding but is then exhausted and also can't start the bike.

What I am saying is the fault could be hidden by a fully charged battery, I hope your dealer is compassionate and will cover the cost for the part and labour....it would be difficult to prove this fault existed before you bought it....however, if it is indeed still within warranty that covers electrical faults you stand a chance

agreed, if the stator is buggered, then the rectifier can't cope and usually gets buggered soon after

I would hope that the dealer would collect it, repair it FOC without delay, without any kicking off or crying in the corner!
Always start these things reasonable and calm as normally that gets the desired result, if that fails then kick off!

    Hi Keith
I am Danish but Will try my Best.
    Had the same experience.
Turned out to be the switch for the side stand, positioned right next to the side stand fixing point. It was stuck in a position so the bike thought the side stand was down.
Cleaning and a bit og grease solved the problem.

So just a quick update just heard from the dealer and it turned out the fault is the alternator stator
    Thanks for all your advice

I’m having this problem as well. Dash and lights work but no fuel priming and no clicking from the starter. Any thoughts?
