    Hi Boothy,

    Not quite sure i understand as if I raise mine 15mm with a spacer then 10mm does not even reach the seat pan in most areas or do you start just removing from the back section ??

    Mine was exactly the same, just remove where the line reaches and then fit gradually lower and lower spacers, i am in the middle of this at the moment have marked the back and sides of the tail unit so i can put in the same position each time

    Thanks Boothy - i will test it out again and make a start. Was just worried as it seems that the unit is already sitting on the cross members but will give it a go.

    Thanks for the tip on marking the position on the sides and back - very helpful.

    I had the same reservations as you although if you look underneath the unit does sit above the cross members.

    I also put a heavy weight on the seat part to hold the tail unit against the spacers while marking up

    Hi bit of an update, finished sanding and fitting the rear seat unit.

    Also fitting front brake pipes, found some decent billet machined pipe clamps on ebay think it finishes the job better than the original fittings.

    Hi Boothy,
    Just been through your project thread and well done, it's going to be ace. Some good tips and advice I will probably follow like the engine paint. You mentioned getting a Haynes manual to read ref the engine checks, is it a triumph Haynes or just motorcycle engine generic one?

    How did you get on with seat unit ? have finished mine now, having looked at your pics again, mine was exactly the same, quite a lot of material ends up coming of the rear and the front of it just take your time and it will work out fine.

    Hi quick update, taking in for painting next week, think sorted design out covered tank and seat unit with paper then go busy with felt markers !!

    The red WP_20170224_19_32_20_Pro.jpg WP_20170224_19_32_33_Pro.jpg will be a triumph signal red, i am looking for a triumph pearlescent white does anyone no if they actually do one in the triumph range ?

    Still have a few jobs left to do, getting closer though :)

    Dropped all the tank and bits off at painters this morning, Diablo Red, Crystal White, Phantom Black. Just waiting for price and time scale as they seem pretty busy.

    Had a look at some other stuff they had done it looked superb.:)

    I see you have external feed to the balance shaft. On later bikes this was done away with completely and also the banjo bolt was changed going into the cyl head.
    This was all done to increase feed to the crank after they had failures. May be a worthwhile mod. see the cam oil way is later braided type so that's good. Very early ones were bare rubber and known to explode.
    Also have you got rubber etc under the metal chain guard otherwise you will get corrosion due to different metal touching.
