I think she was on bbc breakfast this week being interviewed by one of the presenters.

Errr,I believe you started this dialogue, but when you start a sentence with,”can you evidence your claim?”,it really does ask the question,WTF?

Hello @TillyB... I may have your post wrong, in which case I apologise, but are you talking about the state or the people of Europe? We have members from France and the Netherlands who have stated that their governments were being less than satisfactory with getting the vaccine in like our government has... so the “people” haven’t had chance to refuse but it may be that the Macronites have... (speculation on my behalf but I’m sure I’d seen it on the news that that was the case)

Professor Hill is Irish I believe?
Hi, Thanks the response and it's a good question. I was thinking about the people of Europe. From what I am reading I am picking up an undercurrent of "the UK are winning the vaccination race, aren't we great". This clearly is like bread from heaven for the brexiteers. From my point of view the delays in the European programme are due to the negotiations around the liabilities of the drug companies. I'm aware that the German's appear to have agreed a side deal for more vaccines but not of the details of whether that aligns with the EU terms regarding liabilities. Nothing i have read regarding the reduced progress made in other European countries leads me to believe that their citizens don't have a choice. Vaccinations are taking place in European countries at a lower rate than here. I guess as with all things Covid these things are complex and moving in tangents depending on many factors. We have already seen Pimlico Plumbers stating that their staff will need to be vaccinated to be able to work for them, I doubt they will be the first. At the other end of the spectrum my Daughter who is a midwife has not been offered a vaccine yet.

Professor Hill is a male Professor so that wouldn't be who little Ade is referring to.
That would probably be Professor Sarah Gilbert, who is British.

Your daughter needs to push and shout for it and not wait till she gets offered it.
My Mrs who works in MAU and in the community started shouting this past week, she is now booked for the jab on Wednesday

Agreed, I've not had an update from her since last week, but hopefully this will be resolved for her and her staff soon. Her last report to me was that many staff and her patients are positive ( this is in a large London hospital). Hopefully this thing starts to subside soon!

I though some might be interested in this graph of how the global vaccination programme is going.

Yes, sorry, wasn't very clear in my response, the article that I saw outlined her and Professor Hill as being responsible for the vaccine although I am sure there are may others who contributed.

my point was more about the multi-national input to all of the work around the vaccines that is going on and the futility (IMHO) of suggesting that you want a English or French or whatever vaccine.

I've seen this chart a few times and assume this is single dose only. Be interesting to see them post both for comparison.

France is not in the list. The country is so late on that. We've been good on lockdown, and terrible on vaccine..
People over 75 can just add their name on a waiting list without given date for the vaccine.
I'm sure my daughter that live in UK will have the vaccine before my mother in France.
