For yousens that don't mind looking a bit BMW, mid-grey is a good compromise for sunshine use. Another advantage of grey is that it doesn't sjhow the dirt as much as white - or black for that matterr.
One thing I can't understand is the fashion for matt black helmets. Guaranteed to boil your brains in sunny weather. A chromed helmet would be best. :grinning:

Totally agree with you on this, Flay. My textile suit is predominantly mid-grey and I’ve managed in long-haul, European trips in 40C and above. Not too comfortable, but 350/400 mile days are manageable Even for an old codger like me! In those temps, you need to be stopping often to take on water (not forgetting the letting out of water too!) I like the sound of these new cooling vests that are around. A couple of guys I know have them and say they are very effective, especially if your jacket is well vented and allows a good flow of air through to aid the evaporation of the water.

This is really an issue here in the California desert. I have a well vented, white helmet with a mirrored face shield for when it gets hot. I have a Kevlar knit shirt, but I still struggle to find a jacket I like. It gets well over 100°f. here EVERY summer. ...J.D.

    Right!
Just seen this post again and decided it is bloody @Thripster 's fault that the weather has changed :(, all this talk of special clothing to combat the heat & now we have had more rain in the first few days of June than in the whole of bloody May .
I demand that you go sit on the outside naughty step & contemplate your misdemeanour ... but wait until it rains & make sure you are wearing your new summer gear! :p:D:joy:

Last few days haven't been bad here BB? Mind you, I have been inside. What with the jet stream and all, there's no predicting the weather and you have to take any chance you get. That's if the roads aren't blocked by fallen statues.

I am track only these days mate, so one you're booked & paid then you're riding, the forecast for tomorrows outing at Castle Combe is sketchy & possibility of rain.

Hi Sandi, Am looking at the cooling vests you kindly recommended. Not very common over here but will find one. Thanks for the nod.
