I'm strangely drawn to the 900SS. If I heard it described, I wouldn't like it - fat tail, spindly looking swing arm, slab sided fairing and square headlight. But I think it's really classic, and I'd want one in my garage, if I had a garage. My finger hovered over 'buy now' for a SuperLight on the well known auction site a couple of years ago, but I chickened out and still regret it. 69 (age, not position) and still ok on my R1200S, though it's not too extreme.
Dont know that it has much to do with age. I ride a Thruxton S with fairing kit which I bought new in 2017 to replace my VTR1000. At that time I was 71 and the only reason for selling the VTR was the engine. I got tired of having to ring the neck of a massive V-twin because Honda had done the fashionable thing and bolted all the torque and HP to the top end of the rev range. The Thruxton has the relaxed torque-rich characteristics I want, - I am usually two gears higher than the VTR on the same roads. However I do miss the Hondas build quality, ease of maintenance, much better fairing, more comfortable seat, mag wheels, .... in fact I really miss the VTR!
