Yoga is more than I can “bear”... As for sport bikes, at my age and decrepit condition, I liken their comfort level to a visit to the proctologist.
Sports bikes ! Oh yes . I still have one that has been relegated to 2nd bike status since I got my Speed Triple RS. I have ridden less than 20 miles on the MV in the last 2 years owing to it needing a BIG service and there are no decent Local places to get it done. Next Spring it will be sorted and on the road again . When I do get on it it goes like feck !
SleepyOwl If you can get your leg over then you can ride any thing. Judging by some of your babes and bikes you still get around. Regards Joe.
Oldskool. Wow what a weapon. I am drooling fantastic steed and great picture not to mention the moment thanks for sharing that. Ride Safe & enjoy Joe
It's a pity you weren't a bit closer oldskool, my neighbours lad was a mechanic for a dealer selling MV's, I'm sure he would have serviced it for you, cracking steed by the way.
It is an amazing bike. An ambition fulfilled . I am very lucky to have been in a position to see it and say feck it I’m having it ! I used to change my sports bikes every 2 years to keep up with the latest and greatest Japanese rocket, but once I got this - that was that. Now had it for 14 years. It’s special every time I go out on it, even after all this time .
63, 5' 8" and 12 stone. Have an Exploder, Street Triple and a Daytona 955i. S3 is a bit cramped on the knees for me on long journeys (200+ miles), 955 is a real hoot but the seat is a bit harsh for big miles. As for the Exploder, all day comfy (bum gets a bit numb around the 500 mile mark), ecomomical (50+ mpg whilst making progress) and deceptively quick on the road - I actually ride it faster than both of the others, but think I am going slower! Couldn't get on with my sister's R6, I found it cramped and uncomfy. As others say, get a decent test ride and see how it feels.
Got my Daytona 955i in order to scratch the sportsbike itch again after a few years off. OK, by modern standards it's a sports-tourer, but it is still way more than I can master. Fine for a couple of hours, but for longer it's the GS. But they are a great couple of hours And my advice for staying flexible is Tai Chi - swear by it DS
Sleepyowl there is nothing more exhilerating than jumping on a sportsbike (Daytona T595 in my case) to blow away the cobwebs from time to time. I'm 55 by the way
My issue isn't my age, it's trying to wrap my 6'2", 100kg carcass around a scrunched up 1000cc motor and then not become an aged hooligan who gets a 9 week suspended sentence
Uncorrugated And sitting with your brake on and burning out your rear doesn't help much either. Matter of fact I think it's idiotic. Regards Joe.
Sorry Joe, but in this instance it doesn't really matter what you think of it, it's his bike to play with as he likes
Fortunately, in this case, your opinion is wrong!! When drag racing - this bike won the Straightliners 11.10 bracket in 2016 and was 3rd overall - if you don't get the rear tyre nice and warm before a run, you lose traction, often end up going sideways and lose the race. This is how sideways you can get when the tyre isn't up to temperature....
