It's not only UK, there is a 25% raise in Europe due to higher demand.
Happy to have a wood stove.

Seems like we are all going to get hit. I was paying £87 per month with E-on. I looked at the big six energy companies for quotes based on my history usage and e-on were the most competitive at £147 for a 24 month fixed deal. I am retired and so heating is on all day an night. Tough times for many ahead…

My utilities haven't gone up (yet), but since the first of the year I've watched my grocery bills rise from an average of $45/week to around $100/week. Water, gas and electricity increases are probably just around the corner.

Similar story for me. Was paying £58 a month with one of the companies that went bust. New tariff priced at the Ofgem limit looks like it would be about £100, so 60% increase.

Rising energy prices also affect just about every industry, even more so than domestic consumers as there's no price cap for businesses which means rising prices on everything. So unless you live a 100% self sutainable existence in a log cabin in the Yukon, (unlikely if you ride a Triumph) you"ll get hit by rising prices on something. Even then the cost of rifle cartridges will probably go up!

I feel quite lucky. We shifted to Octopus in July on a fixed tariff before all this stupidity kicked in. If I had a suspicious mind, I’d be thinking there was a fair bit of collusion going on between the big six to try and boost the gas prices so the little companies that were becoming popular with their customers driven out of business.
