    If he goes West all the way he could pick up some pretzels and bagels when he hits New York, maybe even some baseball caps with NY onthem for us all.
    Of course he might also want to consider doing a travelogue of his journey:D

    It's a right dilemma mate but for me two of my favourite things
    Alcohol and motorcycles don't tend to go together to well
    When the Jockineese tightened up their drink driving laws I bought a good quality breathalyser from Halfords
    Went to Ullapool last year to start a tour of jockland parked up showered and out on the lash went to bed bladderd
    Next morning after breakfast even though I felt ok breathalyser said no!
    It was a good few hours before I was allowed to ride
    Makes you think about consumption the night before
    A handy tool for your tank bag

    It is virtually Zero tolerance up here. The only reason it isn't, is because omedicinal use of alcohol would take some folk over 0. As Littleade says, you are looking at around an hour per unit or pint (depends who's saying it) to dissapate from your system. (Be a pint for normal people, a small sherry for Ade !!!:D)

    So on the Saturday when we ride into Scotland, gonna have to be extra careful how much and until what time you are drinking. Even setting of our rideouts at 3:00 in the afternoon ain't gonna help if you've had a skinful.

    I am just about to set off to drive to an Autotest event, sunday morning. Was my birthday yesterday, had a small tipple last night and that was it. If you are driving on a Sunday morning in Scotland, you do not get bladdered on a Saturday night. Lads don't attend rides now, excuse being, got a wedding / party/ works night - the night before, it really is that tight up here.

    Is this really such a bad thing? I'm not so sure it is. It inconviences me, but then again it stops drunk driving arseholes driving on a Sunday, off their face and knocking me off my bike !!!! CAtch 22.

    I fully understand your concern and I agree, I have to get diplomatic status before July :D

    (Seriously: being the alleged German beer waster, I also thought about this problem.
    I'd rather restrict my drinking the night before and depart at 10, or 11 a.m. instead of waiting until late afternoon...)
    Oh and then we can start drinking earlier after our return and hit the bunks/suites in proper time for the next tour. ;)

    Trouble is it's either easy on the drink go out early and miss the traffic or go on the lash, leave later and hit the traffic jams which makes a large group ride a pain in the arse
