You never know maybe Rob has dropped dead and totally decomposed since his last visit therefore deaf to to our cries.
I had that very thought myself yesterday evening, @Tigcraft. I mean, we have been in the midst of a pandemic and weather catastrophes. Who knows where @Rob may be?! I do hope that he is healthy and happy--and returns to answer our questions and solve our problems at some point.
Octoberon Three weeks can be a lifetime to some. Rob was close to shutting down the forum before so lets all take a step back and wait. He will be here when he is ready. Joe.
You're just too nie, Joe. He was close to shutting it down because he got some undeserved abuse. It was a bit of an over-reaction in my opinion and arguably showed that he doesn't really have any empathy for the wider community here. He probably did in the beginning but I suspect his interest has long since waned. If people are paying subscribers I don't really think "I'll do it when I'm ready" is acceptable.
If it's a money thing, we can do an "assessment" and pass the hat. Personally, I'm down with coughing up a few more bucks if it goes to the cause and sorts things out, either a one time injection or raise subscriber dues. However an annual fee increase should also come with increased subscriber privilege, like subscriber-only rooms and stuff like that. I say this in part because there is no shortage of people nagging about this spam situation who are too cheap to cough up 7 bucks a year. Most other forums I've been, to include the other Triumph one(spam-free too) I'm on are $20/yr. Chump change. BTW I never got my Halfords discount card you pricks.
Can't help but wonder how high the monopoly board would get thrown by all these people leaving the forum just because of a bit of spam that's easily ignored.
I hit the "agree" response emoji to all of this....except for the Halfords discount card. Well, I didn't get that either. I guess I agree with of all of @Golgotha's comments and suggestions except for the "you pricks" part. Yeah, $7 a year is nothing. That's a measly 58¢ a month. I'd happily pay more but in return would like to see more attention to the health and welfare of the forum by the forum owner collecting the funds. I don't particularly care so much about things like subscriber-only rooms but would like to know the software is updated and stable and that the spam issue is resolved.
Feel the same way, I asked for my details to be deleted in 2018 after I sold my Sport (just found the original request on here) I was surprised when I decided to rejoin (having later purchased a Speed Twin) my old details and password was still alive and functioning. What procedure did you use to unsusscibe? cant find a link. Thanks
I think this GDPR article applies. https://gdpr-info.eu/art-17-gdpr/ You may want to quote it in correspondence with the admins. I don't know if @Havit can delete all user information or just Rob.
I happened to be speaking to the Privacy Manager at work today and asked what the regulation is regarding your right to be forgotten. People who hold personal data, even if it's a one-man-band, have 30 days to respond to a request of they're in breach of GDPR, at which point you can refer it to the Data Protection Office and possibly claim compensation.
Here's a useful reference for understanding rights and obligations, which applies to us and this forum as much as large corporations. https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/guide-to-data-protection/guide-to-the-general-data-protection-regulation-gdpr/individual-rights/right-to-erasure/#:~:text=The right to erasure is,to respond to a request GDPR is a Eiropean legislation but I presume you have rights as a person if you're outside that area if the organisation, company etc is in it.
