I hired an escooter whilst on holiday in Wellington New Zealand last year, It was great fun. I would have loved one as a teenager. It was very convenient to hire, once you have registered an account, Uber, in my case. You just used a phone app to say you had picked one up and the same when you had fished with it. The only downside I felt was that they were laying around all over the place and looked quite untidy. Possibly a hazard to the Blind. Safety wise, they only did 15mph if I recall correctly so not much different than cycling.
I read that whole post after reading escooter for escort.....It was quite entertaining and in context until the 15mph part at the end
No, definitely said Isle of Man when I read it...sure it did...pretty much 75% sure...well maybe it did....I think it did...no it didn't..i'm wrong
A pilot program with these types of e-scooters had just started in Tucson before the pandemic hit. Much of the supply was around the University of Arizona. The program was quite controversial as I recall with some touting it as the next best thing on the horizon for our city and others saying the scooters would be dangerous and would wind up littering the landscape. Well, COVID did a number on the program but I still see escooters lying about all over town. It will be interesting when the pandemic is past whether the e-scooter program is continued.
EScooters are stupid a week ago i nearly killed one of the buffoons riding / driving one. Despite them being illegal to operate anywhere other than private land or via a licensed hire company (which dont operate here) i see at least one every day on the road. Anyway this idiot, im driving home from doing a quick shop at 9pm when all of a sudden, dressed all in black, no lights, no street lights was this bellend in the middle of the road. I had to swerve to avoid him as he clearly had no ability to avoid me.....
I don't think it's appropriate to blame the stupid actions of people on whatever they are using. Yes the person on the scooter, e-bike or whatever is an idiot, but he is still an idiot when he gets off the scooter/e-bike. And will still be an idiot when he gets on a bicycle / skate board / motorbike or whatever. I see lots of people doing stupid things on motorbikes, on bicyles, in boats, in cars, or just through having a few drinks for that matter. It's not the item that's the problem it's the user. It's just easy to blame the item. Some non drinkers would have alcohol banned. A lot of people not into target sports would gladly ban fire arms, bows or crossbows. Some people want recreational fishing banned. I know many non bikers who would be glad to see motorcycles banned. It seems to me we just have to deal with the idiots we encounter as best we can. And we can all be an idiot at some point, in someone's opinion.
My wife and me rented a couple ev scooters (pushbikes) in Madrid and I can tell you it was scary! The law says you shall use the bike lane, that’s was the same the busses and taxis use, small wheels, potholes and hysteric traffic! I can’t recommend it to nobody...
