The gasket is still sitting on the dowels (metal posts).

    Mohamed.
You should really take that basket of and check the secondary gear behind the basket in case it has lost a tooth or two. But it certainly looks like new friction plates are the order of the day. That gasket you have on there is exactly as it says a clutch cover gasket. but that one looks decent. Put a very fine smear of grease or gasket sealant on it and it will work perfectly. Please don't smear it all over as it will squash and get into the engine and you don't want that.
    Regards
    Joe.

My preference is to wipe off and de-grease then put the finest smear of RTV auto silicone on the rim of the cover. Wait 10 mins for it to partially cure then offer up and bolt up.

Job done proper. I am sure you have seen like me to many bikes seized up and when you strip them there is gasket sealant every where.
    Regards
    Joe.

Hey guys, I got the new friction plates, I put them in castrol oil and have a few questions..

    1. How long should I let them soak? I see many different opinions on this.
    2. Should I sand the steel plates at all? If so, what grit?
    3. Is the oil I poured in that pan okay to use in the bike? As you can see there is a small layer of dust/fuzz on top.

    thanks again for everything guys!

    1. General advice is overnight.
    2. Sand them only if there is surface discoloration otherwise leave alone.
    3. Use the oil you soaked the plates in if you want but change it soon after, if the clutch plates have lost most of their friction material recently it would pay to use the oil to kind of flush the engine, if you see what I mean.

Judging by my attached picture, would you say those plates need sanded?

It's difficult to tell for certain what condition they are in. The left edge of the bottom left plate looks a bit blued, indicating excess heat. The bottom right looks blackened, again signs of heat. The most important thing is that they have not warped by the heat and you should check them against a flat surface like a pane of plate glass. If in doubt, change them as well, why risk them ruining your new friction plates? If they're all flat then give them a light sand bit don't try to get rid of all the colour.
Any doubt at all change them. You're doing a great job and you want to get it right the first time.

Almost done! I lightly scratched my steel plates, soaked the frictions for 26 hrs. Installed them in the correct order... Unfortunately the new springs are going to be delivered tomorrow so I am just waiting for that!

I will keep you all posted :)

    UPDATE!!

Hey guys, I lightly scratched the steel plates and bought some EBC Friction plates and springs from Ebay and installed them with some new Castrol oil / K&N Oil filter.

The bike is working amazing now! I can't believe they were that worn out that the bike wouldn't even go into gear before..

Thank you all so much for the replies and support, you really helped me out in a sad time!

    Sincerely,

    Mohamed

Top job Mohamed, that's the kind of result we want. Thanks for the update. Now, give the bike a good clean, there's a good fellow:p
