I drove the car on some of the roads we'll be doing last week. They should be spectacular in May with the sun shining but I noticed the nasty pot hole fairy had been busy on the Taynuilt to Tyndrum road placing some really deep holes on some of the bends.

I also had some very very tasty chish and fips. One chippy had a fine selection of battered foods. In England we tend to scoff at the Scottish propensity for battered and deep fried foods but these had very thin and very crispy batter and if I'd not had the fish I think I would have gone for the deep fried haggis.

I would have gone for the haggis and the fish they really know how to do batter as in not 1/4 of an inch thick and soggy in the middle. Not too sure about the fried mars bars though.

Just remember Skye was the old Viking word for ‘cloud’......it can live up to its name. Still, mid to late May is usually when the Hebrides are at their best with blue skies, wild flowers and geriatric bikers......

    Oops,
Nearly forgot, can't make May but Fix n me are of to Glentrool on the 27th ( think the date is right it's a Tuesday) to open up Fix's caravan. We are there for 4 nights and hoping to have a beer or three with that Mr Orangey bloke. If he's nice to us we might even let him have some of the curry!

Pity I'm in the Netherlands - I have ridden just a about all the roads you propose to do. Great riding roads and stunning scenery. Scotland is great.
