Thanks guys. TBH I spent a while looking for something that was rated to high enough amps to avoid the problem that I had in the first place. For example, those molex connectors you recommend are rated to max 5A per pin, where the headlights probably draw least 15A and the circuit can draw up to 25A before a fuse blows.

Can't see the technical specs for the waterproof connector, and don't even know what type of crimping tool to use or anything. The stuff rated >30A I could only find on industrial supply sites, you have to buy the housing halves separately then order the pins, then use the right crimping tool.... Bit out of my depth. I can re-address the situation as needs. It can't hurt to have a look at some connectors and try to determine the best course of action.

Guys I have had a lot of staring issues where the battery will be fully charged and say 90ish on the meter I connected up but when I turn the ignition on it drops to 50ish and although the bike will start if I were to stop and start it a few times it the drains the battery. I had the bike checked out for the usual list of stuff and all is good. I decided as a last resort to buy the H4 leads which can turn off the headlamps so I can start it and get more crank power. Anyone had the same issues as its driving me nuts. Went to garage and filled up with a near full battery and bam, wouldnt start. Thats about 5 times caught out so need to carry an battery charge booster with me. anyay guys any ideas or help around this would be great.

Had the charging and wiring checked, regulator cleaned, clutch, stand, other sensors checked, battery replaced, now have a MotoBatt MBTX12U, JMTX12-BS and a GS GT12B-4, not sure which is better.

Your % charge is less instructive than a load test of how many amps the battery is throwing out. Bike batteries tend to be undersized because of physical constraints and suffer chemical ageing for lack of top up charging and float charging unless they get used much like a car......daily.

I bought two brand new and also a battery charger to make sure they were fully topped up, charging on the bike via meter tests show the battery charging. Seems to be an issue with this and some other models. Its killing me to the point of trading it in asap for something. But determination and persistence is costing me a few quid so far, even went as far as making sure a few area, fuses, clutch sensor area, clutch lever, key ignition area and some other had electrical cleaner wd40 on it. Mechanically it moves real fast apart from a sticky 1 to 2nd shift but a tweak of the throttle fixes that.

Thanks very much for this most informative thread. I brought a speed triple not starting. Same snag, relay clicking. Followed the thread and found the same damaged wire. Someone has been in here before me. Cheers again.
