Unfortunately i cant tell as there is no proof of an engine number so cant compare to V5 so its very possible it has been changed and my casings above clutch cover are all one cast so no hatch for accessing sprag although theres no rattles or bangs when starting or running

Yours is a later example than mine, mine being July 1993. Yours has seen a lot of changes, respray, exhausts, front indicators have been changed. The images are good quality but I can't see any clues regards an engine change.

I'm away from home at the moment so I can't look at mine, but I'm thinking of a way to extend the gearchange shaft so you can rotate the lever, right now you gave a casting in the way.

I tried to remove the clamp so i could try on my speed triple one but there was a lip on the frame that stopped the clamp coming off, i would need to cut a clamp weld on an extension and reattach the connecting tag, for the moment i will concentrate on mot

Hope so. Les the current owner has had some probs with swollen tank, dodgy coil etc. Hopefully minor stuff. I will fit Paul aMessenger stick coils and do a oil and coolant change.

Then get suspension refurbed for my massive weight! Only 3 owners and 17k miles.

That is going to be a heck of a change from the Speed, Clarkey. But it IS a hoot when you get used to it. Enjoy!

Still got the RS, just hankered after a electronic free bike. Hopefully one that I can use, will not depreciate and I can enjoy tinkering with.

Yeah, I assumed that it would be an addition and not a replacement. :)

I'll have all the aggravation of sorting out a long-unused Steamer when I eventually pull my bikes out of storage so I'll probably be calling on the benefits of your experiences with the new acquisition!

    STREAK or AMBUSH next year?

Think I’m favouring Ambush? Yeah I’m up for that as seems a few steamers around these parts.

Definitely Ambush. Might need a week or two before she’s ready for a ride out?

Well I’m off to work tonight and I’m picking mine up from Liverpool and riding it home when I get off the boat in a months time. What can possibly go wrong????

Hi well got the Steamer home from Liverpool but not without a bit of drama. After about 4 miles the bike started losing power. At first I thought it was an electrical problem. Forced to stop at the side of the Motorway on 3 occasions. Made it to a services and called the AA. I’d looked around but missed the fuel hose from the petrol cock was crimped over at near 90 degrees so as it got warm the rubber collapsed causing fuel starvation.

Bit of hose and a couple of hose clamps and we are away.
