a friend of mine runs a bike shop with his dad,he has said i can use the workshop whenever i want.

i stand corrected they are cable clutch.
Have you tried changing the clutch fluid as that could give you the same symptoms ?

Hi sprintdave, i have looked at what i typed and you are right i don't know where i got 995 from.
The tdm was a good bike but it developed a rattle from the timing chain after it had been running for ten minuets so it had to go.
