They will tell you ANYTHING. Last month I rang MCE to ask for "proof of ncd" a few days before my policy with them expired as I was going with Bennetts. The prick on the other end of the phone said he couldn't do that as it was illegal !!! When I asked him exactly which law that would be breaking he changed the subject abruptly. When pressed he said some bollocks about if i'd had an accident in the next few days I would have proof of NCD. He was just a lying tw4t, no other word for it. A week or so later I had no trouble getting proof of NCD off "More Than" insurance a few days before my car insurance expired. Effin hate the scrotes.
Had trouble with MCE too......Thought at one stage it stood for "Most Cancel Early"!!!!!!! I absolutely hate doing bike insurance..... You go through all the questions about bike security and modifications & really....does it make any flipping difference at all when quotes from different companies are as varied as £300-400....of course it bloody don`t!
Just had an insurance quote for a thruxton R from Bennetts via Highway. £216 comprehensive cover. £250 compulsory XS no voluntary XS.
I know we have spoken about this before. Carol Nash are a nightmare for upping the premium on your renewal. There seems to be no thought of loyalty when it comes to renewals. My insurance renewal quote was well over what I paid the year before.I had to phone around until I found a decent price ( came out the same price I paid Carol Nash last year)I then phoned Carol Nash to tell them, and Guess what.........They matched it. What annoys me is if they can match it , why didn't they give me that price in the first place. would have saved all the phoning around Ect. I told them that if it happens next year they can stick it up there arse. Some people would be foolish enough just to pay the renewal as they don't want the hassle of phoning around. But when you cant trust the insurers to give you their best price then you either do the donkey work or pay through the nose
You can't trust them at all. They are quick to take your money but if you are involved in anything watch out. My experiance is that they fanny about and keep you dangling for as long as possible. Bunch of t...........
Bennetts sent mine through the post with the renewal notice so I was able to send a copy of the NCB to Hastings Direct on their request, about the only good thing I can say about bloody Bennetts!! All done before the expiry/commencement of old/new policies.
I was happy with my quote on the Triple. 54yo, 14yrs ncb and it went down from £120 TPFT on my BMW F800S to £99 FC with MCE. The excess is higher but I don't plan on claiming (I know, it could happen) and I have just told them about my mods and every thing was fine. Guy on the phone said they don't touch turbo's, superchargers or flux capacitors, everything else is okay.
Talking of mods...Why do they always ask...does it have a sidecar fitted? WTF is that dumb question asked for? I doubt 5% of bikes these days have them yet I get asked every bloody time...while I'm moaning...Why don't they actually have someone who knows the difference between Norman Hyde rear sets & standard ones...geeeeez ..... The frustration of it all

BeWiser were without a doubt the worst company I've ever had the misfortune to take bike insurance out with. I was happy with their quote but 1 week later they phoned me & said that they'd quoted my 2012 thruxton as a 2002 model & that now my insurance will go up to £700!!!!! When I told them that they didn't make thruxtons in 2002 they acknowledged that but said I'd have to pay the difference or cancel. Ok I'll cancel I said...they said fine....that'll be £50 per policy then. After many, many letters I got most of my money back & went elsewhere I should have BeWiser & avoided them in the first place I guess.
Here in the states I pay about $100 US (75 GBP) per year for basic liability insurance on my bike. That doesn't cover theft or if I wreck my bike and it's my fault. Just covers me for damage to other vehicles and people, but is all I need legally.
If you want to speak about prats on the phone and to go off topic a little then... the archetypal extraction of urine is Directory Enquiries 5 quid to find out a phone number and "can I put you through" for an extra quid. Bah Humbug
Over here its called Third Party Only, the legal mininium we can have, covers '3rd parties only', then '3rd party fire & theft', then 'Fully comprehensive', then you get into the mine field of voluntary excess, previous claim loadings and any other way they can steal off of us, legally of course!
