    Thanks @Sandi T.
No rioting in my town. There’s a lot of troublemakers causing trouble in other cities however and the police have had to bring in water canons.

Not sure what happened 81 years ago bears much relevance does it?

Knowing and understanding history helps to understand and predict what might happen in the future. History is always relevant.

So knowing all of the previous winning lottery numbers will help me predict the next winning ones?

Not really, just proving a point. The relevance of what happened may or may not be relevant to now. I’m really not sure what your point around what happened in France during the Second World War is relevant to what is being discussed here. Maybe you can explain the connection as I can’t see it.

Hubaxe, could you answer the question or is it because you’ve been telling porkies?
I take exception to people who make things up about me to suit their own agenda and ask myself why ?

I didn't say it was relevant to what is being discussed here. Read my post again. I merely stated what I could say if I wanted to start French Bashing.

Oh I see. I guess Entente Cordiale isn’t a relevant bit of history then?

The entente cordial was relevant, but not in a way that you’d like.
It was a major contributor to both world wars and without it we would have less likely to have war with Germany.
This isn’t my opinion but information that historians have told me.

Because without it we would have probably have not been at war with Germany and may possibly have joined the Germans against the French.
Edward vii has a lot to answer for.
