an Ebay shop.... the ones I have on at the moment are definitely so last year....sagging a bit... new oil would probably take care of it... but while stripped off the bike and emptied of oily water - as I am sure it will be by now - I thought why not bung in some new springs while at it.... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hyperpro...733909?hash=item23bd5b51d5:g:AZcAAOSwYB9c59VI
so swapping shoulder pain for headaches...... I do not envy you in the slightest and promise to be good..... Ok mostly good 8)
Well.... I actually managed to get a quick 80 mile ride out in the Chiltern Hills and Vale of Aylesbury this morning. Partially wet roads and fairly cool but , wow , did I need that. Not been out too much lately due to various reasons and it felt wonderful to be back on a bike again. Quick ride out for breakfast at the Super Sausage. Only one other bike there when I arrived. Usually the car park is rammed at the weekend but today it was mostly builders and car drivers. The food was very good as usual , scrambled eggs and mushrooms on toast with good quality coffee. Then a ride home just before the rain came again... Went home via Aston Hill. This is the hill just outside Tring that was used for hill climbs back in the 1920’s and gave its name to the first part of Aston Martin cars. Today it was covered in leaves, push bikes and 4x4’s as it was half term and mummies were running their little kids up to the play area at the top... Feckin slippery, the leaves that was not the kids.. I parked up for a photo and when I pulled away I got some serious wheelspin. Is there a “wet leaf mode” on the RS traction control..?,
Absolutely nothing... windy and wet and horrible but this just arrived in the post..... oooooeeerrrrrr motorcycle porn 8) just waiting for the weather to let me do them... don't have a garage to work in
blimey... you're not that far south of us up here...and it's sunny there...... i want my money back...its wet and shite here in the NE......8(
When we have an adrenaline-inducing fright on the bike we say, "wow! That's better than a cup of coffee!", just 'cause we're happy to be alive.
Have you tried putting them "upside down "? It looks pretty mean and definitely would suit your bike! Only downside is the steering lock..
Beautiful view and great photos, @crane operator! How's your daughter's riding coming along? Same question for you, @JtC. I was actually thinking of both of them yesterday for some reason then ran across this post this evening--a reminder to check in I guess!
Glad that you got out on your bike after a bit of a hiatus, @Oldskool. Good for the soul, eh? Nice write-up and photos on your 80-miler. I love the pic of your bike. Beautiful colors. Did you line the bike up with that grate on the road on purpose? Very nice.
Good choice, Duck. Nice to see you're getting your priorities squared away. Seems there are plenty of rainy days in your neighborhood to work on your bike. Make hay--and ride--while the sun shines!
After a bad start finding a pallet staple in my back tire/tyre , I had a great ride and meal and won 2 raffles. Feeling very thankful Lucky to miss the tube and sit in the tyre Arrived after 2 hour journey Scotch with mushroom sauce, Chips, eggs and salad MBGFC Leg of lamb, chicken, whitebait #27 Whole sirloin/porterhouse #37
The road just widens at that point, so it was a good place to stop. The grate was just a coincidence that I didn’t spot until I uploaded the photos. Needless to say the grate was full of leaves and doing nothing to catch rain . The photo doesn’t show how steep the hill is unless you line up the fence posts in the back ground with the edge of your screen. I wasn’t drunk when I took it honest.
At the moment our President announced 4 weeks full lockdown, I ordered a set of Daytona DT11 heated grip to have something to do on the bike next week ends..
Today I stripped my rear caliper... Been buying bits for a couple of weeks, new, seals, new pads, stainless pistons... Just had no time to do the job. Doing so much for other folk I've not had time to do my own jobs. Still, I found out what the binding problem was. Whoever fitted the last set of seals didn't bother to a) clean and grease the slides, and, b) fit the bloody dust seals, so the ends of the pistons were full of shit. Stripped down, took pads off... One locating tab on the pad was bent, and the friction material worn at an angle. Pulled the pistons, which were well stuck. No amount of compressed air was pushing them out, used internal piston pliers, as I was binning them anyway. Cleaned all the crap out of the dust seal groove, cleaned everything else out, fitted the new seals and pistons, fitted ebc pads and anti squeal plate (there wasn't one of them either) and refitted, bled, and road tested. Spot on! Phew. An hour and £50 well spent. The old pistons weren't as bad as I thought they might be.. A bit of pitting, but I "could" have reused them, but hey I had new ones.
