Vintage Tiger 1994 Tiger 885 Carb

Anyone know how to get the chain slider off. The securing bolt for it on the left hand side of the swing arm is obscured by the frame. Does that mean swing arm off or perhaps take the bottom bolt off the rear shock. Will that drop the swing arm ?

 

So the wheels are coming back very soon cleaned, blasted, powder coated and new spoke...... just needs seals, bearings and new tyres.

 

So below is the list of jobs completed so far. Still to do plugs, check valve gaps, new air filter and carb rebuild but carbs will be over the winter. I might "seal" the tank as well but its not bubbling so will leave well alone for the time being.

• New fairing bolts all round
• Headlight fairing resprayed. Deep scratch through the decal. Amazing job by the paint shop. Looks like new
• Sump guard stripped and repainted
• All engine casings stripped and repainted
• New engine casing gaskets all round
• Alternator cover stripped and repainted
• Water pump hose cover stripped and repainted
• Radiator and water pipe stripped and repainted
• Tank filler cap stripped and repainted
• Exhaust down pipe blasted and VHT paint applied
• Rear brake pedal stripped and resprayed.
• Rear brake torque bar stripped and repainted
• New bolts and captive nuts front mudguard (fender)
• New fork gaiters
• New fork seals and oil
• Forks resprayed
• New tank fuel valve
• New clutch master cylinder - mirror recess hole cross threaded
• New LH mirror - see above
• New knuckle guards RH/LH
• Pillion mounts stripped and repainted, New bolts and bolt caps
• New pillion foot pegs front LH/RH
• Front/rear break stripped, resprayed, new seals , new pads
• Front rear wheels stripped, blasted, powder coated, repoked, new seal, bearing and tyres
• New front wheel (two disc bolts would not come out)
• New disc bolts all round
• New cush drive captive nuts
• New horns - old ones were a bit rusty
• Oil and filter
• New brake and clutch fluid
• New Triumph “oat” coolant.
• New air filter
• Valves checked and re-shimmed. Good job as inlet on number 3 was only just about closing
• Original exhausts fitted
• New clutch master cylinder piston and seals
• Carb strip, ultrasound clean and rebuild
• New gear change lever rubber and bush
• New fuel level sensor
• Repair and fuel proof tank

 

Thanks. I had the water pump in bits and the rad off. They were both pristine so the oat that was in it was still doing it’s job.

 

OK so after much effort the beast lives again......and now with a set Anakee Wilds

 

Found some original exhaust cans to replace the after markets which the previous owner fitted. Will put her away for the winter now in contemplation of a carb overhaul

 

Hi Adie, new cans for sale in the UK on ebay but £800 plus and I think that is just the exhaust. Heat shields and Triumph badges on top. I found these second hand on ebay for £25. Not perfect but with a little TLC should be ok for many miles. Thanks. I'm really pleased with the end result.

 

You will laugh..I'm a girly sports bike rider so I hate those tyres. I bought them as my mate wanted to go "off road" but they are hard work and it feels like I'm coaxing a boat around the corners compared to my Zx12 with Pirelli Diablos. They do seem to hold the road well . So far I have done about 3 miles of green laning on the Anakees but they were very helpful getting across a flooded/boggy camp site.

I know some will green lane a Steamer but they're a bit on the large side for that - well they are for me - I think I'd consider nothing rougher than a fire track through the woods on one of these, even with TKC80s or AWs. A couple of years back we had some guys attach a trials sidecar to one...that was a spectacular sight! See here though sadly this is the escape road to Simms Hill on the Exeter Trial



but here (1min 57secs in) on Hoskins Hill on the Land's End Trial doing rather well compared to some others

Hi Alt, yes , WOT great for getting serial numbers. Thanks. I got a second hand front wheel from Chelmsford breakers months ago. Had is sand blasted and powder coated, new spokes, bearings and seals....looks and rides like new....apart from these silly Anakee Wilds I put on
