The Pidgeon's have been about again Duck, basics mate you need to protect the areas you do not want spatter, if you do a few practice welds on some spare metal you will get the power and distance right so you do not get so much spatter.

Coffman exhaust is now for sale but I need to clean it and find the baffle.
I broke off the front clip so one is reqd (£10 ish)

I can`t see the gas can with inert gas at your your welding machine...without CO2, Argon or other gas the welding looks ugly..this will not work

Ron's point is that, if the lid latch comes undone while you're travelling, the lid will spring open, catch the full force of the wind and get torn off the box. If you put that one on the LHS (and the other one on the RHS) the lids will then be pushed closed by any wind or motion pressure!

And your first thought that "nah, that lid'll NEVER spring open with those latches ...." is entirely wrong.

Got the bike very dirty, 7hrs round trip down to somerset, 4hrs of them in the rain. Oh well, time to get the sponge and bucket out....
First time in extended the rain for the pinlock system on my visor. Was ok for the first couple of hours but then some water got between it and the visor causing problems. Never had that with many years and lots of rain with the fog city stick on inserts. I shall have to do some investigations to see how/if I mucked up the fitting and can I fix it so it does not to happen again. Not that I want to go out and test it again....

 

Fitted this to try it
Ran a few tests using my multi meter on the battery and it’s very accurate
Will only put it on when needed to charge things
It has two ports for phone/sat nav etc

 

Feckin hell how much bodywork is on this TWAT
Gonna take the tank off and check the air filter and plugs
Ooooh I wonder what’s in that box

What a Feckin pain in the arse that fuel connection is

 

This is the main reason For taking the tank off
Whoever put these heated grips on just bunched all the wiring up and wrapped it up with insulation tape and zip tied them on the frame below the headlight unit
Full of Feckin water
Luckily they still work
FFS if you’re gonna do these jobs do them properly
Gonna take a look at the air filter and then maybe call it a day as my Feckin shoulders are killing me

I’m not finished stripping it down yet
Want to get at all the connections under the battery as that’s where the main fuse is gonna pull all the connectors apart and give them a spray with electrical grease and see if I can put the main fuse above the the battery tray higher up somewhere for easier access
Then I have some bits and bobs to fit and put it all back together
It’s gonna be fun
