Where are you at in Canada? If your dealer won’t help you, then contact Triumph Canada directly. They have to be aware of the issue by now. You could also contact the CEO of Triumph if Triumph Canada is no help. His email is in this thread I believe. Stop using that bloody quickshifter immediately or you will destroy your gear box. If you haven’t read this whole thread, then do so please. My gearbox was badly damaged after about 6 false neutrals, as the slamming into the next is brutal on the gearbox.

 

I live near Montreal. I've been in contact with a couple Triumph guys in Georgia, I managed to get an extra year of warranty. Now, they're asking me to get a second opinion from another dealer. More time not riding, more explaining what the issue is. To be continued...

Luke my 4th gear went due to false neutrals buddy Steve is 100% right it will destroy your Box Triumph know about it. Ive asked for a new bike and my local dealer is trying to sort it out now.

Send a letter to Triumph Uk and demand they sort it out before you take legal advice (remember social media is a good thing).

 

Well all sorted picked my new bike up on Thursday it was 15 month old with 4k on it. Did not want it back if they strip it down would have no confidence in it if that happened.
Dealer has been fantastic had to pay a bit nominal amount towards replacement (fair use policy) but well happy.

After 1st service they are fitting a new quickshifter as there on back order,told them not to use old one Happy Days !!

 

Wow, that was quick. Can you walk me through how you got Triumph to give you a new bike? They're treating me like I'm being difficult and downplaying the issue entirely.

 

Luke my dealer in the UK was great and sorted it all out.
My 4th gear was shot beyond what I classed as fit for purpose repair.

Is yours the same ?? or just hitting false neutrals ? My mates bike is doing the same hitting false neutrals and they have a fix for it, that has been sorted by dealer too.
They replaced some type of gearbox rod by removing the case and a new Quickshifter.

glad you got it sorted. So are you saying the fix is more than just a quickshifter replacement? Is there a rod in the gearbox that has to be replaced on all of our bikes to make a quickshifter work properly? I’ve had two different quickshifters with two different gearboxes and neither of the quickshifters work properly. I will never use another Triumph quickshifter.

Yup, the first time I’ve heard anything about a rod. Sounds like triumph is scrambling for a fix. If they used a quality shifter from the start they wouldn’t have these problems. HM comes to mind.

 

I would like to know about the replaced rod too, shandyboy. I had my quick shifter replaced about a month ago and so far my bike is shifting beautifully using the QS. However, if there's another part that could/should be replaced, I'd sure like to know about it and do just that.

 

Steve not sure on the full story, All I know is my mate had the false neutral problems but his 4th gear was still good, He booked it into Triumph to sort out and they fitted the new part that's been machined out and it made no difference he was still getting the false neutrals.
He returned the bike back to the dealer and they took an end cover off and said it had bent/worn away some type of shift rod?
They ordered a new part and a new quick-shifter too, he has used the back for the last week and it's perfect no false neutrals and said its transformed the bike says gearbox feels super smooth, never been as good and the blipper is perfect. (and he rides it hard!!)
I will call into my dealer before the end of the week and see what the part was if that helps

Steve I've been told the Triumph quick-shifter is made by Translodgic so it should work good. My mates is perfect now

 

I just googled translogic and they appear to use strain gauge technology in their quickshifters. If that’s the case then there’s something wrong with our gearboxes.

 

Hmmm, things get curiouser and curiouser.

 

I have a whole new gearbox and new quickshifter, and I still had two false neutrals. ?? Triumph has a major problem on their hands here with no fix in sight.

 

Will see what they replaced on my mates bike works perfect now. says its better than when it was new !! so his is sorted

I think I may have mentioned this before, but do any of you who are having an issue with false neutrals have a slight grinding feel to you shift lever? If you very gently move the shift lever up or down by hand, can you hear or feel anything? I have a slight rubbing or grinding sound and feel. If the quickshifter is even slightly touching anywhere, it could certainly compromise its performance. Please let me know if your bike is doing the same.
