Yes you probably true. I think BSA was taken over by Triumph in 71 to 72 some time.
    Regards
    Joe.

Looks great Danny, I hope mine comes out that good. Got the lower end buttoned up and waiting for the jugs to get .20 rebore. Rebuilt the master cylinders today and assembled the front brakes...moving along. I like your tank; did it come like that or did you have to re-do?

Hi Dennis no the bike was rough and if you do a search on the bike they were all gold and black and the paint layout were all the same, so I own a 2011 Triumph America the one in my logo or whatever it’s called and like the paint job much more than the Bonny original.
So I gave the tank my own paint job everyone who has seen it likes it so job done well so far.

The mudguard is on back to front and the bracket on the fork is upside down :)

Not sure about the bracket. But shouldn't the stays be on the top of the guard rather than below. Were on my BSA Firebird. Also if you look at the first picture it shows the bike with the traditional mudguard as fitted to Triumph.

help! rebuild coming along and thinking about electricity. Came across this negative or positive ground thing. I believe this bike (1976 T 140) was originally Positive ground. I am totally rewiring it. I'm from America and grew up on red-pos, black-neg. Can I get a new harness for this model that is neg ground; or am I required to go positive or reverse red ground wires, witch will hurt my small brain. I also will be installing electric ignition (Pazon) and a Tympanium regulator/rectifier. Is there a easy way out ? Dennis

Yes there is an easy way out, just leave it as is :) one colour is positive and the other neg, does it matter if it's red or black.

Ok, your right, I guess I was over thinking it. So if red is - what color is +...

    Lucas the Prince of Darkness

    • The Lucas motto: "Get home before dark."
    • Lucas is the patent holder for the short circuit.
    • Lucas - Inventor of the first intermittent wiper.
    • Lucas - Inventor of the self-dimming headlamp.
    • The three position Lucas switch - Dim, Flicker and Off.
    • The Original Anti-Theft Device - Lucas Electrics.
    • >Lucas is an acronym for Loose Unsoldered Connections and Splices
    • Lucas systems actually uses AC current; it just has a random frequency.
    • "I have had a Lucas pacemaker for years and have never had any trou..."
    • If Lucas made guns, wars would not start.
    • A friend of mine told everybody he never had any electric problems with his Lucas equipment. Today he lives in the countryside, in a large manor with lots of friendly servants around him an an occasional ice cold shower...
    • Back in the 70's, Lucas decided to diversify its product line and began manufacturing vacuum cleaners. It was the only product they offered which did not suck.
    • Q: Why do the British drink warm beer? A: Because Lucas makes their refrigerators
    • Alexander Graham Bell invented the Telephone.Thomas Edison invented the Light Bulb. Joseph Lucas invented the Short Circuit.
    • Recommended procedure before taking on a repair of Lucas equipment: Check the position of the stars, kill a chicken and walk three times clockwise around your car chanting:" Oh mighty Prince of Darkness protect your unworthy servant.."
