    just noticed this connector thing hanging down,pretty sure it wasn't there before.i got a scotoiler fitted a couple of weeks ago and I'm thinking it's appeared since then..anyone know what it is and if it's important!! 10th may 005.JPG

    Same on mine Douggie. I keep meaning to check voltage on it, as it may be for an accessory socket. Would be good to find out for sure.

    so has it always been there? i'm sure i would have noticed it before,unless it was tucked up somewhere and it's just fell down?

    Mine has always been like that (new bike last year). Just give it a good dose of Fospro every now and again to stop the exposed connections going green.

    Yes same here, it was also on my SprintST1050 I had a few years back. I've been told it's for some extra emission components required for the California market. Apparently it's easier to have a connector that's redundant on most rather than a special loom for California. Had me worried for a while too back in the day.:)

    Yeah, blank connectors on our bikes are often where extra bits are added for another market.
    It's usually "an evaporative loss system" on US California models only.

    Doesn't help when you've been doing a bit of maintenance and lifted the tank, being close to the other tank connections always makes me double check - "have I missed re-connecting one?"
