Just got back from 2 weeks in Spain in the car.

For some reason when we got off the ferry at Dover the traffic was split into two lanes rather than going through the customs shed. What they don't make clear is that if you take the left hand lane it puts you on the A2 and you have to go a couple of miles before you can go back to get on the A20

I screwed up in France by not filling up with diesel at about £1.10 a litre as I misjudged where the last service station on the A1 and then further screwed up by not stopping in Dover where it was £1.34 a litre. First services on the A20/M20 were charging £1.43! How the feck do they get away with it? I put in 5 litres to get us home.

Strangely enough when we went out two weeks ago there were a lot of "characters" hanging round the port and on the verges of the exit roads but coming back we didn't see anyone around. In fact the passport control and ferry booking-in was the smoothest I've ever known it.
