Hi All, Had various bikes over the years, but not been riding for about 15 years now. Looking for a return with some long distance touring in mind. It seems that the Sprint GT is the ideal bike. I’ve got a 1960 Royal Enfield Super Meteor 700 in pieces in the shed and to be honest got bored with the whole rebuild and renew process and am looking to sell. I’m more interested now in getting back on two wheels! Looking forward to connecting with the Triumph brethren. The GT will be my first Triumph. Just for interest, my first two bikes were BSAs. A C15 followed by an A10. The C15 was a bit of a dog, but the A10 was brilliant and gave me many hair raising hours of joy. The worst problem was when the (fixed) footpegs ground out on the corners. Oh - and I discovered the hard way that riding full throttle all the way from Glasgow To Luton was enough to blow the head gasket. Since then, it’s been various Hondas and Yamahas until I stopped riding - BIG mistake.
Well - that was fast. Thanks for all the welcomes. It does seem like this forum is a vibrant place with lots of very useful experience to draw on.
Hi All. Seems like a friendly place to be. I will go quiet for a while until I actually have a Triumph. Then you can expect me to be asking for loads of advice. Until then, I’m going to browse the forums for tips.
Hi and welcome.... yep the sprint st is a great touring bike that can also be a bit of a hooligan. As @littleade says I'm currently riding a tiger sport, same 1050 triple but with a bit more attitude with riding aids and a more comfortable riding position than the st. Either bike will do the job for you on longer rides .
Hi, Sarge and welcome. I nearly swapped my Daytona 955i Centennial for a Sprint GT. Thankfully I didn't as illness forced the sale of the Daytona a few months later. The Sprint is a great all rounder if my lengthy test ride is anything to go by. The 1050 engine is a beauty!!
