Called in at Twisted Automotive in Thirsk this morning as they've just opened a small cafe and I have to admit to being rather fond of the old Landie. :D

This place offers bespoke conversions and bought up 200 Defenders in 2015 before production ceased. There are currently 16 Defender 110s for sale with less than 30 miles on the clock.

This conversation can be yours for only £125,000

I had a LR (Disco) back in the early 2000's which is why I'll never have another one. The popularity of the Defender mystifies me, especially with big V8's shoehorned in. Personally, I'd never buy one, not even with a Saturn V under the bonnet.

Nice find @steve lovatt I've had a few over the years and learnt the lessons :joy:

    1963 series 2
    1971 Range Rover
    1983 110
X3 Discovery's various ages but Tdi and V8
Self made 90 Hybrid with a 3.9V8 and a centre mounted winch similar to a Foers Ibex.

I'll call in next time passing but I think my times done on them. Great idea, shocking engineering design and the newer ones have just lost their way in my opinion.

The Foers Ibex is made not far from us in Parkgate Rotherham. Back in the day the vast majority of Series LR's were bought as working vehicles and used as such. Similarly, the Series 1 RR was made with work in mind, vinyl seats, removable floor mats etc, with a nod to more comfort and better on road manners and performance. Now the Jap 4x4 pickups seem to have taken over the working vehicle mantle with Defenders and RR's moving up market. Having said that, the new Defender has formidable off road capability, albeit crammed with electronicary.

The winch was a great idea where it could pull both forwards and backwards. You could also put a line out on a side slope and then ride along the wire with minimal slide off.
I used a Fairey pto winch and it impressed a few on challenge events. Quite often I would couple another vehicle on the back and winch both at once :yum

Yes, and it only serves coffee, tea and cake at the moment so don't expect a full English or bacon roll
