    Hello all.

Currently doing a cafe racer conversion to my 2001 Trophy 1200. As part of the project I have modified the air box to a simple box affair. I've kept the orginal box to carb housing but modified the horn casing to a single plate with grill mesh. A pipercross dry filter has been fitted. This is essence is perhaps along the lines of a pod filter affair but I believe better balance across all the carb inputs. I understand this type of modification creates potential fuelling issues, now being leaner due to improved flow.

The bike is quite hesitant to start and will sometimes cut out when idling. The running is quite rough with the revs hesitant to return to idle quickly which I would say is indicative of a lean burn.

The carbs have been sat on the shelf in the garage for a couple of months which I have read can cause its own problems. I have bought a seal kit for the carbs (Mikuni) to check for blocked pilot and Main jets. I am considering increasing the Main Jet size from the stock 117.5 to 130 as I expect issues at WOT. Can I expect to adjust the pilot air/fuel? The Haynes say these are factory set with approx 1.5 turns out as standard and should not require adjustments.

Has anyone had experience of this mod in the past? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
