    Hi Guys,

I have just registered so I am new to this site and looking gain knowledge from you guys. I have a Daytona 955i (2001) and a problem which I cant figure out:

    Brief Background
    --------------------

    - In 2013, I was riding to work suddenly the lights on the odometer started to flash ON/OFF and the bike stalled etc....
    - Found out 30amp fuse had popped/melted (bypassed the fusebox with quick mod).........the Regulator/Rectifier had died
    - Checked alternator with multimeter, it was OK......so replaced the Regulator Rectifier and Battery only, clean up the wiring
    - Everything was okay until now.....July 2014
    - Recently found the battery to be over charging around 16/17 volts......so stopped and figured out the 'aftermarket' Reg/Rectifier I had put in last year had popped again.
    - I connected the bike to my laptop and checked using TuneECU and it threw up about 3-4 different codes. One was to do with system overcharging and other were to do with ignition coil 2 and 3 malfunction etc..
    - Two weeks ago I ordered a new Regulator/Rectifier from Electrex World - Motorcycle electrical parts for Japanese, European & British bikes | Electrex World Ltd and installed it as it should.
    - Checked the battery, all GOOD! Now get around 13 when off and around 14.5v when ON.

    The problem
    ---------------

Since installing the Regulator/Rectifier I have re-connected the laptop and checked for error codes. NONE are now recorded in the software (Good!). However, the engine management light stays ON! I have done the 3 heat cycles and ignition on/off a few times etc but the it still stays on constantly!! No errors come up in the software!

Someone suggested to re-flash the ECU, so I did that! I downloaded a tune for my model and flashed it using TuneECU, had no problem but the light is still ON!!

The idling is a bit high/off because I dont think I have adjusted the TPS properly Which I'll do, the bike runs fine, no sluggishness, runs better than before (I think). But the engine management light is still ON? If there is a problem then surely a code should be recorded in the software but nothing!! I have started it from cold (with touching the trottle) and

    Question
    -----------

So, what is causing the engine management light to be ON or how do I reset it?? I am getting really paranoid!!

I am not too techie but happy to get hands dirty with tools if I know what needs to be done.

    Regards,

    As

Have you downloaded new software into the system?

I have just had my T595 remapped by Dynotech near Basingstoke and it turns that the last owner has been mucking around with the settings and if the download is interrupted or someone touches the throttle while this is loading it messes the whole thing up.

mine was running an air/fuel mix of 18 at 4000 revs when it should be around 12 to 14 so was running very lean and had a big hole in the hp chart. They ended up loading the latest map and tidied it up so now it the thing is smooth all the way up to 11000 revs.

It sounds like you have done all the right things with regards to the 3 heat cycles so might be worth getting some help from someone who is good at this stuff local to you.

    Cheers

    Steve

Thanks for your response, Steve. I basically downloaded TuneECU software (v.2.5.5) from the web and run it on my laptop. I also downloaded the Tune for specific for my ECU (from TuneECU website) and remapped my ECU via TuneECU software. The only modification I made before remapping was to set the Temperature fan to come on at 100 instead of 103. The whole process took about 2-3 minutes and completed without any interruption. I then reset the TPS etc.... and started the bike and left it to run (without touching the trottle) until the fan kicked in at 100 (as expected).

So, I know I have remapped correctly. As I say, the bike runs fine and last night I have even flushed out the old coolant and filled up with new one. I'll try connecting the ECU again tonight and see if any errors come (I doubt it). This bloody light is really annoying me!

The point is that if there is any error in the system then surely it should get recorded? But nothing comes up when the bike is hooked up.

I'll keep on trying, I'll get it sorted one way or the other.

I wish I could help more but this is as far as my knowledge goes with these things and in all honesty this is why most of my bikes have carburetors and not EFI as I only have a basic understanding of how it works.

It just worries me as there are so many things that can go wrong loading software into the ECU.

I can see that the next generation of bikes will be connected up to 4G through your mobile or similar and so if any thing goes wrong it may be able to be fixed on the go with a update or something like that, It would be one way of the manufacturers being able to keep outside companies form working on their bikes.

Thanks very much for your response, once again.

I hooked up the bike with TuneECU yesterday and as expected.....no errors!
I have downloaded the manual and I am now going through it.

A quick question......does it (Triumph Daytona 955i 2001) have Secondary Air Injection (SAI) valve or sensor?? I can't seem to find if it definitely has it or not. The map/tune which I have loaded did not have SAI selected.

You're right, I hope the modern bikes have some sort of chipset onboard which connect to the internet and download patches or updates automatically or allow you to install them.

I've had a Honda and Suzuki in the past and never any problems except the usual wear and tear. This is my first Triumph and what a bloody nightmare!!

I've got it booked in with a mechanic next week (Factory trained by Honda, Triumph and Ducati), so let's see.

The bike runs fine, no errors in the software but MIL won't go off!!

Just consulted my Haynes manual the 955i from vin number 89737 to 2001 has a intake air temp sensor a throttle position sensor and an idle air control valve on the wiring diagrams.
The 2002 and onwards has the secondary air injection solenoid valve and is a load more complicated the the earlier model.

I think the answer to that one is no according to Mr Haynes
