I am at my wits end with this bike . I have had bikes for 49 years so know a lot about older bikes and am trying to re-educate myself with modern ecu electronics .
I got the bike 2 years ago by accident , long story , and it ran great then and I did a few miles on it . Then I left it for about 6 months . Then the problems started . It would start ok then run for 3 mins then cut out and would not restart . Leave it overnight and it would do the same again . I purchased a Datatool diagnostic for my lap top and got the ecu registerd and it worked fine saying the cam shaft position sensor was at fault but it would still fire up . Then the running time reduced untill after a few weeks it would turn over but not start . Purchase another ecu got it registerd with Datatool cleared all the faults that were in it but still the bike refused to run .
I fellow triumph owner said it could be the wiring as they are made with a poor wiring loom /
So I removed the whole loom , stripped it down to single wires and continuity tested every wire from end to end .I found only one wire broken but could not work out where it was going to . Fixed the wire and replaced the loom . Nothing !
So I purchased a secondhand loom and fitted it . Great ! When I turn the ignition on all the lights work , horn , etc , and the speedo goes up and back , the fuel pump sings and it makes all the right noises . Turns over but fails to start . Datatool says speedo circuit malfunction . This fault code was cleared , but still no start . There is no spark at the spark plugs and the fuel injectors dont spray when the engine is turned over .There is however a 12v power at each coil pack . The Datatool say 00 Fault codes . I have repeated this with both ecu`s and still it says 00 Fault codes . Where should I look now !
I do hope there is someone out there that can shed some well needed light on this problem
    Regards Finbar
