Nice ... but a bit too much red pinstriping etc for me (house as well!!)! Is it for sale (the bike)?
I also wonder what the mileage is on it (mine just south of 50,000).
I have had a bellypan on mine, but being plastic, heat from the down pipes tended to melt it at the front. I seem to remember that rainy weather may have had an influence on it, dropping boiling water onto it. Twice it happened so I gave up with that idea!
Just looked it up on ebay. £2995/24,500 miles and a bit younger than mine (P reg, mine is N reg). Ouch!

Someone's pride and joy and probably will regret selling. While I'm here I wanted to ask if you took the front pipes off yours to get them with such a good finnish. Do you think it would be best to leave well alone and clean them in situ.

The pipes are from Sprint Manufacturing some 15+ years ago and are a Norman Hyde (chrome) design/make. Discontinued several years ago I do believe. Reminiscent of Gold Star 'silencers' in design. Took 'em off the other week and put the originals back on. Not sure which I prefer now! Ah well, got all winter to decide.
SM do a pair of chrome silencers, which were £199 per pair. According to their website they are out of stock, so how much they will be is anyone's guess when available again! They do look/sound nice though, as an ex mate of mine got some and was well pleased with them.
The down pipes are not too bad, having been liberally dosed with ACF50 over the last two winters, and the heat shields along the bottom run are still in place - surprisingly! Plus lots of polishing over the years ... still can't believe I have had the bike for over 20 years!
The black downpipes with chrome silencers do seem to go well together ... well, in my humble opinion!:)

In your case the pipes and chrome silencers do go well because you have looked after them, those pipes look awful though if neglected. Amazing you have stuck with the Trident and not secumbed to your desires for a shiny new thing standing in a showroom, it's a testament to the Trident you have stayed with it.
I'm still looking, keeping an open mind, tempted a few times even the one for sale on here, it's rather nice but the 750. Seen a drop dead gorgous Thunderbird green and cream but can't give that outlay at the moment I may be tempted though if the dealer will do a deal say January when things are quiet. See what happens.

Cheers, Toby! Original downpipes went 'orrible after first winter and were replaced under warranty. After that I just kept attacking them with anything vaguely polish-like and with rust removing abilities.
As for hanging on to it, I did buy a new '02 Daytona 955i Centennial which I sold, due to ill health, in Sept 2014 (not made of money, but I had a small inheritance that year). I loved that bike although SWMBO was not as keen as she wasn't too comfy on it, though she did like the way it went!! So the Trident stayed and was used for touring, which it was bloody good at - power delivery, comfort, economy and an endearing way of covering miles on French autoroutes at a steady 85 - 90mph. 500 miles in one day and we could still both walk!! :) So it would be pointless selling it.
Thunderbirds of all shapes and sizes are gaining value a bit quicker than Tridents but are less powerful and have only one front disc (except for the T'bird Sport which has 85 bhp as opposed to the standard T'birds which have 69 bhp, the Trident being 98 bhp). T'birds do look nice though!
It all depends on what you fancy, really.

Incidentally, if I were to buy a scooter, SWMBO would give me a right old kicking!! Puff Chariots she calls 'em! So I shall just have to hang on to my Trident for a little bit longer ... fnaaarrr, fnaaarrr! :p:D
If I'm honest, I can't believe I've kept it so long, but it really is such a genuine, nice, all round bike! :D:D Or perhaps I am lacking in imagination, or just plain OLD!! OR BOTH!!!!!:(:(

A wire brush on those fixings and a good wash and polish and she'll be like new again. ;);)
