I have been going to Northern Holland to the Dutch TT for 30 years and still my Dutch language skills are terrible.Amazing country and wonderful people. Their English speaking is so good it makes us very lazy. But some of their regional dialects make then sound as if they have the worst case of laryngitis ever when they speak. Really guttural, the sound is produced somewhere from the back of their tonsils ! Some of the translations are obvious, Guten Morgen: Good morning. Bier : Beer, Frites : French fries, Mayo: Mayonnaise. But perhaps the best one we didn’t expect to see on a food menu was : Slagroom . Without using google translate....any guesses ?
