We have just got back from La Gomera in the Canary Isles. Had a great time and whilst we were there we got talking to some other guests who were staying in our Parador. 3 of them are just about to commence rowing across the Atlantic, ending up in Antigua. 2 were going as a Pair and one is going off solo. The pair have just completed 18 months training but one of them has had Covid last month and that has affected his training dramatically. They are still going…The solo guy is 66 years old and has never attempted anything like this. Whilst in our Parador he could be seen chilling, smoking his Vape and drinking Gin and Tonics.
The challenge goes every year . Part of the rules dictates that all of the rowers provisions are counted and all of the plastic bottles, containers are counted. On arrival the plastics are counted back and if the boat has lost one single piece of plastic the rowers are disqualified.Details can be found on the Talisker Atlantic Challenge website.
