Kinlochewe view point After going to Torridon and onto Diabaig on our Scotland trip last month i wanted to go back when the weather was better as i knew it would be stunning when the sun was out. So as the weather in Scotland has been great for the last week and the forecast for Monday and Tuesday was good i decided to head up just to see what it looked like in the sunshine and it didn't disappoint i was hoping to stay in Torridon on the Monday night but the only place available was the hostel which looked really nice but it was an room with 7 other guys and as I'm a light sleeper i knew that would be a nightmare. so i booked into a hotel in Kinlochewe which is about 10 miles away. the best route up would be up by Braemar, Tomintoul Inverness then onto the Ullapool Rd (A835) turning of at Garve onto the A832 down to Kinlochewe. i stopped off for a quick photo before getting to the Lecht ski centre i didn't stop again until i got past Inverness and that was just to fill up with fuel, the next stop was at kinlochewe view point (first Picture) i reached the Hotel just after noon so i decided to head on to Torridon as i couldn't check in until 4pm. couple of pics in Torridon i then headed along the Road about 10 miles to Diabaig where the road ends, the scenery on this road is amazing some photos along the way, i could have stopped around every corner seat with a view! More pics at Diabaig to follow!
getting near Diabaig that's it at the bottom of the road bike on the pier end of the pier! the end of the road i must have spent a good couple of hours there relaxing and taking in the scenery old tractor nearby i went back to the hotel about 5ish as i had booked a table for 6pm after i had my t the weather was still great so i decided to go out again and visit red point a place i'd never been to before.. pics in next post
To get to red Point you head along the A832 past loch maree then turn off onto a single track road, it's about 10 miles from the turn off road to red point Red Point Beach is at the end of the road Some pics on the A832 going back to the Hotel in kinlochewe Loch M aree ( the photos were taken between between 7pm and 9pm) more pics to follow from the next day as i travel home
@Dougie D Absolutely stunning, Dougie! Thanks so much for stopping and taking the time to take these wonderful photos. There are more than a few in the bunch that are poster-worthy. Looking forward to your next day's photos!
As always Dougie stunning pics of stunning scenery. Pity you have to spoil it with pics of a ditch pump though.
it must have been a different tractor James as this year was the first time I'd ever been to Torridon & Diabaig
On the way home i decided to go up and down the Bealach na ba as i was passing it.. the sun wasn't out yet but it was pretty clear so i took several photos, i went as far as the view point on the way to Applecross. A bit different to when i did it last month as i could only see about 3ft in front of me! View point on the road to Applecross
On the A890 overlooking Loch Carron and of course once you get to Eilean Donan Castle you have to stop for a couple of photos one from each side of the water this view is just of the A87 carried on the A87 until Invergarry where i joined the A82 just south of Loch Ness. stopped of at Nevis Range just about 5 miles north of Fort William from there i went through Glen Coe which in the sunshine looked great, i stopped off at the Loch Tulla viewpoint for a quick picture The next and last stop before home was the green wellie for fuel, saw this Magni Guzzi in the bike park I had a cheese cake at TJs, a bit of America in Tyndrum, it looked quiet but everyone was sitting outside i had a brilliant time, i could have done it in one day but then i wouldn't have seen near as much and it would have been a long day as the total mileage was just over 500 miles (that includes the trip after my evening meal to Red Point and the run up the Bealach na ba), so splitting into 2 days made a lot more sense. my normal mileage for a days run is usually between 200-300 miles as that still gives you time for plenty stops, I'll definitely be doing more of this overnight trips in future
What a great couple of days, Dougie. You're so fortunate with all that scenery and great roads on your doorstep!
@Dougie D Wow, gorgeous! I'm speechless...and those of you who know me realize what a rarity that is. What beautiful countryside and fabulous views. Your bike looks like a model with those beautiful backdrops. Hmm, I guess I'm not quite speechless...... Glad you had a great trip, Dougie!
Great stuff @Dougie D, makes me want to go there! Did it in a car a few years back but never the same as on a bike, Shame its a 2-3 day ride from home
