    Hi All
    Need some help.
I recently bought a 2017 Tiger Sport with 8000 miles on the clock.
It has recently developed an engine cut out problem at mostly above 6000rpm and above 90mph.
Usually in 5th or 6th and under load. Its only for a fraction of a second, but its like hitting a brick wall at speed.
Only trouble is it is intermittent, one day I can go for a ride and no problem. The next day it will cut out, misfire
    at above 6000rpm.
So I've connected up TuneEcu but no codes are shown.
The Tiger1050 Forum recon it is the sidestand switch but surely if it was the switch it wouldn't be intermittent.
Anyone come across this on the 1050 triple motor before?

    Cheers

To prove either way without any expense can't you just create a little bypass cable and substitute it for the switch. Test ride and check the result!

Just be more mindful that the stand is retracted when you set off if you do.

Yeah good idea Eldon. I had thought of that but but wondered if it was a known problem. I did gently push the stand down at about 100mph but it felt like a different cut out to my problem.

    Cheers

These switches all benefit from servicing with a blast of WD40 and re-sealing with silicone (Di-electric) grease.

I found the cure. Stay at 5000 revs and 80mph sorted. But yes could be your switch possibly the side stand vibrating a little and sending cut out signals. How tight is your stand and spring.
    Regards
    Joe.

OK thanks for that, guess I'll go through all the switches with WD40, at least thats an easy operation..

Also tried keeping below 6000rpm but my brain just couldn't do it....stand is tight and spring is tight, will try bypassing the sidestand switch and tip sensor if I can find it...

Just do one thing at a time, that way you may save some work (first time lucky?) and, if you bypassed or substituted 2 or more components, how would you know which one was causing the problem?

    Hello mate,

did you resolve the problem? Was it the side stand sensor? I have the same issue and no idea whats going on with my tiger 1050.

Sounds like you may have a blocked fuel filter

I don’t think so because the model of it 2020 and it has only 8500 km on the odo.

the engine only cuts the ignition at 5th and 6th gear at rpms higher than 6000. Today it was extreme it kept on cutting the ignition like 6 times the bike almost lost traction.

I’m really lost can’t find anything else on the forums about this.

Don’t hold your breath waiting for a reply, the original poster hasn’t been seen for nearly two years.
Sorry, I have no idea what could be causing your problem.
