    Hi All

Took my tiger for first ride of the year and it losses power at speed!

I changed the oil before this and now have petrol in my oil!

Have been told this could be piston seals have gone but was just wondering if there might be other reasons?

    Any help gratefully received!

I would say either the rings are gone or you have bore damage causing petrol to pass your pistons into the crankcase.

Just wondering if it's a carburettor model where the float needle has dirt in it so the carb doesn't shut off the petrol entering it and then keeps overflowing allowing petrol into the cylinder whilst stood, the petrol then leaks by the piston rings and into the sump where it mixes with the oil. Just a guess though

I would of gone down that route of thinking too but TigerKing also mentioned that he is losing power, which is why i went down the piston rings route, getting bore wash & losing compression? Just a thought

    Thanks for the comments

Looks as though i'm off to the garage as its a bit past my comfort zone and don't have the time myself to fix it as i'm planning to be riding around Norway in 3 weeks time!

More expense just what i need!

It's an easy compression test and if low it's your rings or bore lining.
Can be honed out and new rings...

Like screwball said, simple compression test & see what each cylinder comes in at then squirt a bit of oil in each plug hole & check compression again.
