    Hi All,
I purchased a 500mile 2013 Thruxton last December but I have only just got around to riding it and I've noticed that there is vibration through the bars. This vibration starts at around 3.5k rpm and at 4k+ I can't see anything through the mirror (not good on motorway), I get a numb hand after about an hour’s riding. It seems to be engine related (not speed)!
I appreciate that the engine is a 360deg parallel twin but what I would like to know, is this normal? or do I have a problem?

    Thanks

The twins are always going to give out quite a bit of vibration but I haven't ridden a Thruxton so wouldn't be too sure. Might be worth speaking to your local dealer about it.

Two things that might help are put heavier bar end weights on the bike and wear inners inside your gloves which may help to combat the issue somewhat.

    Cheers

    Steve

As steve mentioned, pop into your nearest dealer and ask if you could take their demo for a spin to compare ;)

Hi, I have an 04 Bonnie with 30000 on the clock and there is little or no vibration through the bars - the mirrors are always visible even at motorway speeds. Just changed the bars from stock and still no vibration with the new ones. Both have bar end weights in so that may be a simple fix. Always going to be some vibration with a twin, but it shouldn't be so noticeable as to spoil your enjoyment of the bike or make your wrists go numb. Hope you get it sorted.

update to my post: I did take dealer demo out for a test ride and found the vibration similar to my bike. I've noticed that as the miles are beginning to 'rack up' and the engine is loosening up, the vibration is reducing. or I'm becoming immune to it!
As the Thruxton has bar end mirrors it isn't possible to fit bar ends weights. Of course removing the mirrors and replacing them with weights would eliminate the blurred view but won't help with my rear view ;-)

    Quick update Barry,
just removed my bar end weights as I will be fitting bar end mirrors when they arrive. Rode the bike today with no noticeable difference in vibration - it didn't increase at all. Maybe it's the 30,000 miles that have loosend the engine up!

I had "Carpel Tunnel Syndrome" in my palms and wrists caused by the vibrations of many twins over the years. I had to have a couple of operations to sort the problem out. Now I try to avoid motorcycles with excessive vibrations.

Have dec 2013 thruxton 1200 miles no noticeable vibration on the bars but at about 70mph I notice a slight vibration through my nuts sorry to be crude but most accurate description! theres a video on youtube someone made of a review of the thruxton cant remember his name but he said the bars vibrated like f***k his words not mine.

Can't say I've experienced that! I do get numb hands sometimes but that's usually down to the angle of my wrists on the bars, specially in slow traffic. Try wearing trousers!
