hi every 1 .. 1st triumph I have owned.. and been riding for over 40 years was looking for some advice .... was chatting with a guy at rivington barn a bikers meeting place great for blast out on sunday .. was looking at is thruxton when the owner came over to chat nice guy and was telling me best way to tune the triumph .. big bar up the exhaust he says helps it breath .. and rip the rubber out the air box ... any body know what he on about .... but sounded sweet when he left
Hi and welcome The bar up the exhaust will break the baffle and hence the gases will be straight through, the rubber removalis even more dodgy as it potentially bypasses the air filter. Go with proprietry upgrades and rolling road setup
Hello and welcome to the forum. I have heard that you can improve the bikes but not sure how you go about this Cheers Steve
Hi and welcome to the forum. Yeah, he will be talking about "de-baffling" the exhaust - did it on my stock Bonnie pipes. Not that simple though, you need a hole cutter to remove the end plate and then a long screwdriver or bar to break the tabs on the inner baffle plate to be able to pull the whole baffle out, along with all the fibreglass padding. Does greatly improve the sound (although I now have Dunstall exhausts on anyway) and is relatively easy to do with the pipes on the bike. Thruxton exhausts may well be different though. Rubber thing is the snorkel. Take off the LH side panel and you can see it poking out from the air filter housing. If you unscrew the 3 bolts and take the mounting plate off you can then push the snorkel out altogether and just put the mounting plate back. It won't bypass the air filter but will increase airflow into it so you may have to rejet/remap. Some people fit after market velocity stacks - Jenksbolts do a rubber one for £23.00 but aluminium ones are around £60.00 I think. They are supposed to improve the airflow and avoid turbulence. You can also cut the snorkel diagonally across the top to increase the surface area of the opening to improve air flow.
