Hi, I've bought some Frank Thomas Cargo throwover panniers off ebay, the top velcro straps will fit under the seat of my Tiger Steamer therefore being held on by the seat, the question is will they move about or will I need to secure them at the bottom with bungees or ratchet straps?? Cheers

    Hi
Any chance of a picture with the panniers fitted? Have to say if there is any doubt about the security/fitment of throw overs I would err on the side of safety and use extra straps. I have heard stories of tail-packs or throw overs being caught in the rear wheel with disastrous results as well as being burnt on exhausts.

Yep, don't move til yer sure panniers won't hang out on corners etc, bike unstable, can be issues with insurance claims etc as well as safety. I have Triumph throwover panniers with correct velcro straps on pannier rails, but still added extra tie wraps for security. Glad I did, on our recent weekend to Belgium sortie, velcro strap kept having to be retightened.

Give some thought to telling yer insurance yer have panniers on, yer don't want them claiming yer didn't fit properly, hence bike unsafe if there was a claim. Just a thought tho, ride safe.

Some of the best saddle bags (what we call them) are coming out of a company called Leatherworks (California) Leatherworks Inc. | Leather Saddlebags | Motorcycle Saddlebags
They have a large variety of high quality leather saddle bags and also, rare for an American company, have a great web site with a section devoted to Triumph motorcycles. They also manufacture an easy off/easy on bracket system for several Triumph models that are also of very high quality. Somewhat expensive but you really do get what you pay for. Have these on my Thunderbird. They also make bags for Bonnevilles, Americas, Speedmasters, Thruxtons, and Rockets. Check out the videos and their Galleries on the site
