The Gear Shift Unit Is Broken

New gear shift shaft required plus circlip and thrust washer which will have disappeared with the broken end of the shaft. It should be possible to replace the shaft by removing the clutch cover and clutch although I think the Service Manual will tell you to remove the engine and split the cases. What year and model is your bike?

 

Parts 24 and 25 are bearing and oil seal and should still be in place in the crankcase. Parts 26 and 27 are thrust washer and circlip and will be lost.

 

You need to subscribe for the Service Manual. Take out a subscription for a month which should be at a reasonable cost but note that it will auto renew every month unless you unsubscribe after you have made the first payment. Access is only online and printing off the entire manual has been blocked.

 

It is a straightforward fix, remove the clutch cover and the entire clutch (keep the plates in the correct order of removal, for re installation), you can then access the damaged shaft and replace with a new one.
