The Darkest side

    OK, so the plan was to get hold of a Trident to chop up and build a street tracker / racer kinda thing, however....

    I had a day of work and decided to take a look on evil Bay (bad move and would never recommend it)

    2hrs later and I've bought myself a................................................... BMW K75. :oops:

    In my defence, it's an ex-Police bike with a good service history MOT'd a good runner any only £800 !!
    A prime candidate for the angle grinder !!!... As the good lady say's it'll keep me quiet over Xmas. ;)

    Plus, I saved a Trident from the chop... :D

    I've got to the 'scary' part of the build...
    I'm chopping the rear of the frame and I've got a rear loop ready to weld on, I know I've got to unhook the battery but what about the canbus stuff and circuit boards, do these need removing or would taking the battery off alone be enough to protect them?
    I really don't fancy all the hassle of removing the electrics (there's miles of it !!) Darn these modern(ish) bikes !!

    OK, I've been told to NOT unhook the battery but leave it in place as it'll work as a sink should the electricity spike. (sounds plausible)

    I've always been told to remove the battery before welding...

    What to do !!!... :confused:

    Earth the frame as near as possible to the weld area and it should be fine...
