On the new TFT display the tach changes colors as you change RPM ranges... for example, green, then orange, then red. Is this just a visual so you know what range you are in? Orange seems to be close to the power band. Or is it for gas mileage?

I have only had the speed triple for a few days now. I seem to like a cruising RPM of 5k-6k. What cruising RPM do you guys use?

Yep, what Richard said, it is the "running in" mode. I believe you can turn it off in the bike setup menu if you don't want it on.

There's a bit more to it...

If you go to MAIN MENU and then DISPLAY SETUP, you'll then see the GEAR SHIFT IND. option:

Selecting GEAR SHIFT IND. reveals three options:

In RUNNING IN mode, the bike automatically moves the indicated limit (where the tachometer bar changes from blue to orange) as the bike passes through the running in stages (e.g. 3500 RPM for the first 100 miles, then 5000 RPM from 100 to 300 miles etc).

I think this is a really nice feature :)

If you select USER DEFINED then you can set your own single RPM limit in increments of 100 RPM from 4000 RPM up to 10500 RPM.

In the image below, I've set it at 4000 RPM to see if it worked...which it definitely does :p

I didn't try the DISABLED option, but I reckon it enables you to park in the extra-wide spaces at the supermarket.

I was kinda disappointed when I didn't get an achievement or something when I clocked 100 miles lol. Felt like a missed opportunity.

I agree that Triumph have missed a massive gamification opportunity - we need badges and medals. If it were Tesla, we'd have got fireworks and rocket ships on the screen at each stage :yum
