I found that one of the most comfy seats around was that for Honda CBR400rr mini-blade, and luckily there seem to be plenty of them available. It is a built up unit with a firmer rubber covering and includes its own minimal plastic base.

The complete CBR400 seat fits fits nearly perfectly within the T100 cover, it just requires a hole to be cut in the original foam: so the CBR rubbers can touch the T100 seat frame at the back, and tapering off to leave more original foam at the front - which gives a slight rearward slope for best comfort.

After a couple of weeks the seat mod has proved successful and so far on trips of up to 100 miles the numbness induced by the original seat has completely gone.

On a short trip I used occasionally to be aware of the standard seat's passenger hump, and can now instead notice the back of the inserted CBR seat, so there's not much difference.

The effect of the mod is to make the seat a little firmer, so I would say that larger bumps in the road are not quite so well cushioned. This is a slight trade off for short journeys, but overall comfort is definitely improved.

It was quick and easy to do: remove staples from front half back to the hump, peel back the outer cover and the thin interstitial plastic sheet, cut a hole in the foam and replace plastic sheet and cover.

There is a tape arround the original seat cover and an old, cheap, Arrow T50 staple gun proved just fine, using 5/16" (8mm) staples, for permanently fixing back the cover.
