Cannot see thread on ideas/experience of swopping final drive cogs to improve bottom end punch, which I do miss from my Aprilia Tuono.
Anyone done it if so which cog and what to?

Afterwards does it go right proper fast?:biggrin::biggrin:

Change the front cog for 1 tooth less. It's worth circa 3 on the rear as a rule of thumb.
Did it on my CBR and it made a massive difference.
With the triumph you can also adjust the speedo to be more accurate via tuneecu.
When my bike was on the rolling road we adjusted it by 4% and it's now pretty spot on (via satnav)

-1 on the front is the same as +3 on the rear.
Stock is 18/42. The most popular change is 17/42 or 18/45.
Front sprocket is cheaper to buy but longer to fit.
Change the rear and you can get a flashy sprocket, black or gold if that's your thing. You pays your money you take your choice.
I was going to put a 45 rear on my 08 Speed but never got round to it.
I do more touring now so I'll leave my new Speed stock.

Got a 45 tooth Renthal on the rear of my 2005 1050. Definitely more punch but you do notice its revving pretty hard at motorway speeds (5000 rpm is about 80) which can get a little tiring if you spend lots on time on the motorway.

Its a good change for the sort of riding I do and it's pretty cheap so little to loose.
