Well what I thought would never happen just did (well yesterday morning to be precise) - I dropped the Tiger. Went for an early breakfast as the weather was good to a favourite spot, Avon Beach near Mudeford Quay. Choice of The Beach Hut Cafe or the Noisy Lobster cafe.

Headed for the usual car park with free bike spaces, which is set quite a bit lower than the road so the entrance is on an incline. Just about to head down the slope when I realise the barrier is still down. Managed to slow, turn the bike around to the right to come back up and then for some reason looked again just to check the barrier was down by which time the bike had slowed almost to a stop and was beginning to lean over to the right.

Got a foot down but too late - I had passed the centre of gravity and so with a stupid hopping motion of my right foot, ended up laying the bike down as gently as I could. Did I feel a prat or what? but no one around to see thankfully!

Got the bike back up by standing with my back to it, lowering myself against the seat and then pushing it up as if doing a squat lift - works a treat to be fair. The good news - had the panniers on so the only damage was a broken RH indicator lens - the indicator itself 2016-04-11 09.41.17.jpg is fine. Ordered a new one off ebay already for half the money Triumph wanted.

Only other marks are a small scratch to the plastic corner of the pannier and a scratched bar end weight (thankfully fitted 10 days ago!)

Still feel monumentally stupid but very grateful the damage wasn't much worse - oh and my right thigh muscle hurts like a bugger!

glad you got off so lightly. I dropped my Tiger the other day.. two up. a couple of scratches on my pannier. Dead happy with that. My triple being dropped would have made me cry.

Glad to hear both you and your steed got away without more severe damage.
Don't feel too bad, everyone makes a prat of themselves at some point and you were lucky you didn't have an audience. Bet you don't do it again though.
    Lesson learned, move on.;)

Thanks and sorry to hear that you dropped your Tiger - really glad it just ended up as a "pannier scratch" incident!

Ok if it's fess up time, it looks like it's tiger tumble week, I had to slam the anchors on due to a white van stopping suddenly in front of me, late braking on his part and probably a slight lack of attention on my behalf, thought I was doing ok and then I started sliding, why does it always feel as though your speed quadruples when that happens? Anyway we stop in time but then I'm hopping on my left leg as we've got a bit of a lean on and luckily it's a lay down gently and hop off, trying to look as if it's done on purpose for the benefit of entertaining the kids in the cars building up behind, kill switch flicked on the way down! So there I am with the tiger lounging gracefully at my feet and I realise I don't know if I can pick her up! No help being offered, luckily crash pad, sorry panniers are on so bike is slightly off the ground, manage to get my knees under her and bench press her upright, hop on every so casually and a big fail on the start as I've not reset the kill switch, any ways once I remember that bit I'm off as though I do this everyday!
Thankfully no damage whatsoever, ego not included:oops::oops:

when I next started the bike I had forgotten that it won't start in gear if the stand is down...... it was mortifying. I always feel double pressure being a woman on a bike. (so many stories of being treated like a moron by bloke bikers) and this was done in front of tons and tons of bikers.

your drop sounds so stylish.... I will keep your technique in mind if I get it wrong next time.

Bloody hell crispey - what is it with our Tigers this week?
Glad to hear you are OK - sounds much more stylish than mine!
I was still in gear when I tried to start it (with clutch pulled in) so a "fail start" for me as well!

This is how I picked mine up having seen a similar video a while back.

I go away for a few days and you're all throwing yourselves off yer bikes like kids in a schoolyard !!!

Let's try once more WITHOUT falling off - 1. 2. 3 and go !!!!!!! Yes very good Steve, you can flick me a V whilst doing a U-turn - just don't fall off.

I am so tempted to say "at least we've got bikes to fall off of" but I won't!

Yep trouble with that method is I'm always worried I'll go too far and end up on my back on top of the bike doing the dance of the dying beetle!

I would love a nice roughie toughie Tiger. I tried one for size when I went to the dealers to check out the Speedmaster. But as I'm not exactly vertically challenged my legs stop short. Therefore I prefer to ride something that I can comfortably hold up at the lights or manhandle into a limited parking space without risking damage or more importantly, a major ego deflation event.

I think you'll find that whilst I was one of a very few who admitted to snoring - many more will be avid practitioners, whether it's tent, bunk or anything else ;);)

Everyone here has been very lucky not to be injured. My mate broke his tib & fib last year saving his vulcan from a 5 mph car park slide. He's been on crutches for months and will walk with a permanent limp because of it. So if bike starts to go, let it and don't try to hold it up with your soft squishy body.
