Hi all, back again with a question. My bike recently went through a rain storm and had to sit in the rain for the night. I started it up and rode it to a friends house this morning and when I was getting ready to leave I put the key in and turned it and it didn’t give me anything. Oil lights didn’t come on, neutral light didn’t either I tried hitting the starter button and it didn’t do anything. I checked the battery voltage and it was sitting at about 12 volts. I tried putting the key in a few more times but kept getting nothing. My friend was able to give me a jump and when he did lights came on and it started right up, as soon as I got home and turned her off again though it was the same thing. No lights coming on, no start at all, anyone have any ideas what’s going on with it? What are some things I’d need to check first, and could it have been caused by the rain?

Sound like water was causing the battery to short out.

I'd be having a closer look at the battery.
A good battery should be at least 12.6 volts. Try charging it after removing it from the bike then check to see if it is holding it's charge after say a couple of hours. If the battery seems ok then replace it and it should start and then you need to check if it is charging when the engine is running and should be reading over 14 volts when charging.
