Picked up my new to me 2009 ST1050 on Saturday and all seems good apart from an incredibly heavy clutch and a useless rear brake.

More on the rear brake later but first off the clutch. I'm going to take the cable off and check it, i might just order a new one given how little they cost, but am curious to know if anyone else has noticed this or if it is just a feature?

The clutch lever pivots can seize up. Disconnect the cable and see how the lever us on its own.

Thanks Linx, i'll give that a go

Nearly died when my local dealership quoted £30+ for a new cable. Will still get one and carry as a spare though.

Try a Slinkyglide cable from Wemoto. Cheaper than original too. Good service and online ordering too.

Think I've gotten to the bottom of this one.........and definitely a case of user error. o_O

Moved the lever position from 1 to 4 and much shorter reach so clutch a lot easier now.
